LIMERICK teenager Conor Nee has finished as a magnificent runner-up at the World Youth Draughts Championship in Korbach, Germany.
In the run-up to the Championship, the 16-year-old from Clareview displayed impressive form across several tournaments in Ireland, which led to his selection for international duty. Over the last while, he has competed well at a number of events, including the German Open and Irish Open (Masters) Championship in Donegal.
In the Youths Championship, Nee won five games, drew four, and lost just one game, that to the eventual champion.
Nee, who is financially supported by HDS Partnership (Gearóid Flannery) and Castletroy Coaches (Kieran Curtin), is still eligible for the Championship next year.
Meanwhile, Limerick’s South Court Hotel has been announced as the host venue for the 2025 Irish Open Draughts Championship.
