GARDAÍ in Limerick made a seizure of close to €10,000 in cash and drugs following a raid on a home in the city made under a nationwide policing campaign tackling known drug networks.
A spokesman for An Garda Síochána confirmed that €4,130 worth of illicit drugs and €5,161 in cash were seized in the planned raid.
The Garda spokesman confirmed that Gardaí raided a home in the Garryowen area of Limerick City this Tuesday morning (November 12). Gardaí believe the drugs were intended for sale or supply within the city.
During the course of the raid, Gardaí seized 40 grams of suspected crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of €2,800, along with an estimated €1,260 of suspected cocaine, and a small quantity of alprazolam tablets.
Along with the drugs and the cash, the Garda spokesman said that drug paraphernalia and mobile phones, along with “a number of other items”, were also seized.
One man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene of the raid and brought to a Garda Station in the Southern region, where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The raid was carried out by members of the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by community policing officers, the Regional Dog Unit, and the Regional Support Unit.
The sweep was carried out under Operation Tara a nationwide anti-drugs campaign launched by Commissioner Drew harris in July 2021 focusing on disrupting, dismantling, and prosecuting drug trafficking networks at a local, national, and international level.
