Limerick soccer club goes smoke free

Ballynanty Rovers has gone smoke free as part of the Not Around Us campaign.

IN A BID to stamp out smoking and vaping across the board, one Limerick soccer club has become the first in the county to go completely smoke free.

Ballynanty Rovers is hoping to score big with the ‘Not Around Us’ campaign, aimed at promoting spaces where it is easier for those who smoke or vape to quit and, in turn, reduce the exposure of younger players to harmful effects and nicotine addiction.

Encouraging other soccer clubs to join in the club’s smoke-free sideline policy, Cllr Frankie Daly said that Ballynanty Rovers are “taking a significant step towards fostering a healthier environment for everyone”.

More information on the campaign and taking part is available via the ‘Not Around Us’ section of limerick.ie.
