Planning application for Park Canal expected by year’s end, councillor told

LABOUR Party councillor Conor Sheehan has quizzed the Council regarding its engagement with Waterways Ireland around their commitment to lodge a planning application for a maintenance plan for the Park Canal despite having committed to lodging said application by Q4 of 2023.

The Council’s Director of Service for Environment, Kieran Lehane said that Waterways Ireland have responsibility for the maintenance of the Park Canal.

He also explained that on receipt of final environmental reports, Waterways Ireland intend to schedule a pre-planning meeting with Limerick City and County Council.

This, Cllr Sheehan was informed, is being done with the intention of submitting a planning submission in the final quarter of 2024.
