Limerick goes to the polls on November 29 as general election called

LIMERICK is set to go to the polls in General Election 2024 on Friday November 29, it has been confirmed by Taoiseach Simon Harris this afternoon.

Mr Harris will travel to Áras an Uachtaráin today (Friday November 8) to ask President Michael D Higgins to formally dissolve the Dáil, allowing the general election campaign to officially get underway in earnest after months of speculation.

The election will bring to an end the current government coalition of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party, who have been in office for four and a half years.

Many Limerick candidates for the upcoming election have been announcing their intention to run in the general election over the last number of weeks, with 15 candidates so far declared for the Limerick City constituency, which has four available seats.

14 candidates have so far declared for the three-seater Limerick County constituency.
