Blast off for the Limerick Festival of Science

Some fun with creepy crawlies at last year’s Limerick Festival of Science

THE Limerick Festival of Science will run from November 7 to 17, harnessing the power of Regeneration, exploring how decisions we make today will greatly impact future generations, and ensuring that we use lessons and learnings from the past to inform decisions for the future.

From protecting te natural world, creating more sustainable approaches to energy supply, embracing technological advancements and investigating new solutions to safeguard health, festival organisers say it’s time to reimagine the way we engage with the world around us and enhance our collective strengths.

The 2024 Festival provides the opportunity to explore new approaches to using science and technology to protect our ecosystems’ biodiversity, create sustainable approaches to energy supply, and provide an opportunity to explore how technological advancements can help in safeguarding our health and environment.

The wide-ranging programme of events addresses the issues challenging society: including how we are to power the planet through renewable energy; how artificial intelligence can be responsibly harnessed in our lives; and how progress in our understanding of genetics and gene therapy are being employed in daily healthcare.

There will be topics of interest for all minds and ages, including science magic shows, nutrition and exercise workshops including an evening with Paris double paralympic medallist Roisin Ni Riain, relay team members Kelly McGrory and Thomas Barr and their coaches, 3D outer space travel, talks on the secret life of bees and their importance for human survival; superhero science, science of flight, design in our world, physics busking, psychology and mind games, Irish genetics and discussions on sports psychology, healthy eating are just samples of what will be covered.
