AS General Election 2024 looms closer, with Taoiseach Simon Harris having announced the dissolution of the Dáil earlier today, Limerick people living abroad are reminded that they can still get involved in exercising their democratic duties abroad, provided they act quickly.
Irish citizens residing overseas are eligible for postal voting if they have lived in Ireland within the 18 months prior to election day (November 29).
This includes any citizen who has temporarily left the country, for example for studying or working abroad.
Those considering a postal vote will need to act fast, with the deadline set for this Sunday (November 10).
Those applying for postal voting will need require their application notorised by a notary public, commissioner for oaths, peace commissioner, or practicing solicitor.
To apply for a postal vote, citizens must contact their local electoral office and provide verification of their eligibility, which may include proof of their last place of residence in Ireland.

In Limerick City, the local electoral office is located within Limerick City and County Council.
With the November 10 deadline approaching rapidly, voters abroad are encouraged to act quickly if they wish to have their voices heard in the upcoming election.
