FORMED in the throes of the pandemic, Dublin band Gurriers has emerged as one of the most riveting acts to explode out of our thriving post-punk scene.
In just two years, this five-piece band has transformed from a no-name project into a powerhouse, earning accolades from The Irish Times and BBC Radio 6, which have described their sound as “raw like a butcher’s cut”—sharp, fresh, and unflinchingly intense. Reverberating guitars, towering melodies, and vocals bursting with gritty self-confidence, Gurriers’ sound is made for high-energy nights where the sweat pours off the walls.
Their live shows are notorious, building a devoted fan base with their hungry, mesmerising performances. They have shared stages with bands like Slowdive, Enola Gay, Goat Girl, Been Stellar, and Surf Curse, while storming festival slots at Electric Picnic, Mad Cool, Reeperbahn, and the Netherlands’ Left of the Dial.
With singles like Approachable, Nausea and Sign of the Times, Gurriers deliver a fierce sonic punch, capturing the pulse of a generation grappling with the modern age’s turbulent realities.
This September the band’s debut album Come and See takes aim at the crises of contemporary life. Tracks like Des Goblin dissect the lure of online personas, while Dipping Out voices the disillusionment of Dublin’s youth, and Approachable serves as a biting anthem against the rise of the far right.
Gurriers are poised to take their sound and their message to the world stage.
Gurriers play Dolans Kasbah on Thursday November 14.
