FIANNA Fáil councillor Fergus Kilcoyne was getting into his swing at City Hall last week when he called on the local authority to liaise with the National Transport Authority (NTA), Irish Rail, and the Department of Transport to explore the options of building temporary rail platforms for passengers on the Limerick to Foynes railway line for the duration of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Cllr Kilcoyne suggested Adare, Patrickswell, Rosbrien, and Dooradoyle as locations for these temporary rail platforms.
He was informed by the Council that the Transport and Mobility Plan for the Ryder Cup 2027 event is in the early stages of development with all the named parties.
“All transport options, including rail, are being considered,” Cllr Kilcoyne was informed by the Council.
