THREE Limerick rail workers have been honoured for their customer service at the recent Iarnród Éireann Customer Experience Awards.
The awards aim to celebrate excellence in customer experience in all aspects of service provided to rail customers.
Limerick Onboard Customer Service Officer Ben Downey took home the award in the onboard category.
Praise for Mr Downey, which included customer testimony, said that “Ben is the perfect example of great journey every journey and works hard for his customers each and every day”.
Eddie Bourke, a Limerick station operative, was a finalist in the in station category, with Mr Bourke’s nominator saying that Eddie “is welcoming and easy going with the Limerick passengers, knowing many of them by name. He always has time for a joke and a chat. It’s always a pleasure to meet Eddie and he is held in high esteem by his colleagues.”
Another onboard customer service officer, John O’Keefe, was nominated for the People’s Choice Award, with the nominating customer saying that “John is always in good form with all the customers. Always takes the time to stop and have a chat. I have seen him on many occasions go out of his way to help those of us travelling. He is a true gentleman.”
Iarnórd Éireann CEO Jim Meade said that “one of Iarnród Éireann’s core values is ‘Customers at the Heart of our Business’. All nominees and winners here today truly espouse that value and you should be very proud of the excellent way you serve our customers.”
