LIMERICK food and drinks businesses are encouraged to follow in the footsteps of a successful local supplements company, who are celebrating four years in business this year.
Food Works, an accelerator programme for high-potential food and drink companies, is looking for Limerick companies to complete its 2025 line up.
Limerick company FemFuelz is one of nine companies who took part in this year’s programme, with co-founder Kylie O’Donoghue saying that the programme makes you “think outside the box”.
The Food Works programme combines the resources of Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland, and Teagasc.
Co-founder of FemFuelz, Kylie O’Donoghue, said that the Food Works programme has been of great help to her and her fellow co-founder and brother, Limerick hurler William O’Donoghue, and encouraged other Limerick businesses to get involved.
“Food Works has been an incredible opportunity for us because sometimes when you’re in the business it’s very hard to focus on the business itself. The programme forces you to think outside the box and do all of things you know you should be doing when you are stuck in the day to day,” Ms O’Donoghue said.
“I couldn’t recommend it enough for start-ups or anyone who is in business for a couple of years to focus on what you really need to.”
The Food Works programme runs from February to November. Participating companies getting the chance to take part in workshops with national and international industry experts, with successful companies being supported to get investor-ready by developing a business plan.
Companies may also be eligible for a €30,000 grant, as well as getting customised support from business advisors.
The closing date for the 2025 Food Works programme is November 29, with full details and application forms available from foodworksireland.ie.
