Local athletes are heading to Monaco

-

FOUR athletes from Limerick – Tara Loftus, Emma Griffin, Andy Coyne and Brian Lowe – will represent Ireland at the Special Olympics Princess Charlene European Swim Meet in Monaco over the Halloween Bank Holiday Weekend.

Limerick Chairperson Patricia Loftus explained: “It is our first time being selected for international competition and is something we are very proud of.

“The chosen athletes are just the lucky ones; we have over 70 athletes in our club and each and every one of them would have been deserving of selection. Unfortunately, we can only send a team of four.”

The athletes will be accompanied by Head of Delegation Olive Coyne and coach Diarmuid McGuire.

Ahead of their departure, Mayor John Moran presented the quartet with specially commissioned polo shirts at the Seven Sisters public house in Old Kildimo.
