Limerick Bus Éireann staff awarded for going the extra mile

LIMERICK Bus Éireann employees have picked up a sweep of awards at the national bus service’s GEM Awards.

The GEM Awards – also known as Go the Extra Mile Awards – aim to honour some of Bus Éireann’s hardest working employees.

Limerick man Alan McGuinness was awarded the company’s Hero of the Year Award, with the Roxboro depot scooping the Depot of the Year Award.

Five other Limerick Bus Éireann employees were lauded at the ceremony, including Christina Organ took home the Clerical Officer of the Year Award, Pat Donnelly scooped the Supervisor of the Year Award, and John Robertson was honoured with the Road Passenger Driver of the Year Award.

Other successful Limerick winners were Denis Maher, who was awarded Executive of the Year, and Terence McDonnell, who won the Central Region’s Supervisor of the Year Award.

The Limerick depot was awarded the Depot of the Year Award for its dedication to excellent customer service and huge achievements around electrifying the city service, the first regional city in Ireland to be fully electric, with all the upgrades necessary to carry out the service at the depot.

The Bus Éireann regional awards take place across the country in October, with the winners from each region going on to the national GEM awards in Dublin.

Currently holding a 93 per cent customer satisfaction rating, Bus Éireann says it is committed to providing the highest level of customer service, awarding staff who uphold these standards.
