FIANNA Fáil councillor Francis Foley did not get the response he was hoping for when he asked for the Newcastle West Municipal District to introduce a comprehensive works programme for traffic safety measures to be put in place for towns and villages in the area.

He also asked that his proposal be properly funded by the Council.

Cllr Foley was informed by the local authority that it does not have a budget to carry out a comprehensive traffic calming programme and told the former mayor that such an issue should be addressed in the budgetary proposals for years 2025-2029.
