FOLLOWING a stellar career – one which commenced back in the Spring of 2009 – Kilmallock’s Graeme Mulcahy has announced his inter-county retirement.

He departs the scene with five All-Ireland, six Munster and three National League titles, along with a coveted All-Star Award from 2018.

‘Mul’ represented Limerick in close on 140 occasions, and amassed an incredible 23-163.

In tribute, the Limerick management, headed-up by John Kiely, said: “He was a tremendous example to those around him by way of his commitment, dedication and relentless work rate on and off of the field.

“Graeme wore the jersey with pride and distinction throughout his amazing career. His leadership in the dressing room and desire to always put the team first were aspects that most never get to see but without which a team cannot be successful.”

In his own words, Mulcahy reserved special mention for his wife Laura, saying that “you have made untold sacrifice to allow me to chase my goals and I will be forever grateful. It has made the journey extra special having you and in more recent years, our two girls Róise and Aislinn, to share in the success.

“Thanks also to my family, in particular my parents, Orla and Tommy, my brother, Jake, my sisters, Zoe and Bróna, and to Mark and Liz Mellett and family for your support throughout the years.

“I would also like to thank the wider Kilmallock community (with particular reference to the local GAA club) for your encouragement and guidance from a young age. It has been a privilege to represent the town.”

He concluded: “I look forward to joining our wonderful supporters in following Limerick in 2025. I have no doubt there are more great days ahead for this Limerick group.”
