ASKEATON’S Jason Harty is now five wins from as many starts in the professional boxing ranks following an impressive points (60-54) defeat of previously unbeaten American Quanderis Arnold at the ‘All of the Lights Show’ at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Ahead of the weekend, Harty revealed he was hugely excited by the prospect of being in a bout of note and a fight where he’d have to produce his best to win, and that the 25-year-old from Askeaton did with an eye-catching performance.

Arnold, for his part, promised to “steal the show and give Irish fans a glimpse of a future world champion”.

However, it was Harty who grabbed the headlines in this six-rounder.

The undefeated former underage International (who learnt the sport with Rathkeale BC) – dubbed ‘Hard Hitter’ –  is now likely to have a super middleweight Celtic title bout next month.

Harty is a brother-in-law of Paddy ‘The Real Deal’ Donovan, holder of the WBA Continental Welterweight title.

And, full credit to Harty for his immense dedication in the face of some injury setbacks over the last while.
