THE Council has been urged to reverse changes to the laying out of graves in Holycross Cemetery or else service them adequately so that loved ones can visit their dearly departed family members.

Responding to Fine Gael councillor John Sheahan at a recent Newcastle West area meeting, the Council explained that it facilitated changes to the layout of the burial ground in the new sections following representations received in 2023.

“The Council can revert to the original layout and will consider the installation of new paved surfaces once the practicality of same is reviewed on site,” Senior Engineer Aidan Finn explained.
