A STATUS Yellow wind warning is to be in place for Limerick as Storm Ashley is set to make landfall, with two other counties to come under a higher grade Status Orange warning.
The wind warning will come in place locally from 6am this Sunday morning (October 20) and will stay in effect until midnight.
Met Éireann has urged caution in travelling as Storm Ashley sets in, with warnings of coastal flooding, large coastal waves, fallen trees and branches, and difficult road conditions with debris and loose displaced objects brought on by strong gusty southwest winds.
A Status Orange wind warning will be in place in Galway and Mayo, coming in at the earlier time of midnight tonight (Saturday).
The weather body said that the Status Orange warning may bring coastal flooding, large coastal waves, displaced objects, fallen trees, damage to power lines and power outages, and damage to already weakened structures.
It also predicts difficult travelling conditions and dangerous conditions at sea.
A Status Yellow gale warning is also to be put in place along all coasts and on the Irish sea from 6pm today, with Met Éireann claiming that winds will increase to gale force 8 or 9 on all coasts.
A Status Orange wind warning will be in place from 9am on Sunday from Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head.
