Special talk on the history of Irish tobacco to take place in Rathkeale

The talk on historic tobacco is free and open to all.

A SPECIAL talk on the history of Irish tobacco will be hosted by the Rathkeale and District Historical Society this Friday (October 18) and open to all history buffs.

The talk, titled ‘Irish Tobacco: From Free Trade to Free State’, will be delivered by Dr Sean Whitney from the University of Limerick – an expert in socio-economic and political and cultural history of 19th century Ireland.

The event will take place from 8.30pm on Friday October 18 at the Rathkeale Community Arts Centre.

Organisers say that all are welcome and attendance to the talk is free.
