FOLLOWING a string of handbag thefts in Limerick City, Gardaí have reminded people to keep a careful eye on their belongings.
In one recent case, a woman left her handbag in her trolley while shopping.
She was briefly distracted and when she turned back around, her bag was gone.
Gardaí were able to recover the bag but the cash inside was gone.
In another case, a woman momentarily put her handbag down as she was opening a shop on O’Connell Street in the city centre.
When the unsuspecting woman looked again, it was gone.
While CCTV also managed to identify a suspect in each case, Gardaí have advised the public to keep track of their personal possessions at all times.
