Showdown in Cappamore

AHANE and holders Newcastle West contest the County Senior Camogie Championship Final in Cappamore on Saturday (4pm).

In the semis, Ahane – champions just two years ago – were narrow winners over previously unbeaten Bruff and NCW registered a comfortable win over Na Piarsaigh.

Ahane’s challenge will be led by captain Áine Reynolds, Judith Mulcahy, Éle Madgian, Aisling Herbert, Molly Hussey, and 2019 All-Star Niamh Mulcahy.

Phelim Macken and Shane O’Neill are at the helm with the east side.

Mike Quaid managed NCW have key performers in county star Rebecca Delee, Karen O’Leary, Deborah Murphy, Yvonne Lee, teenager ace Lucy O’Brien, and dual great Róisín Ambrose.

In the curtain-raiser (1.15pm), great rivals Croagh Kilfinny and Granagh Ballingarry contest the Intermediate Final.

Meanwhile, St Ailbe’s are the Limerick Senior Ladies Football Champions of 2004.

In an entertaining Final, Ailbe’s came through 0-13 to 1-7 against Ballylanders at ever-accommodating Cappamore.

Although four points down in the early stages, the eventual winners were 0-9 to 1-3 ahead at the interval and appeared comfortable all through the closing period.

The side was captained from the heart of defence by born leader Niamh Ryan.

In a wonderful opening Intermediate Final at the venue, John Horgan managed Mungret St. Paul’s edged-out Knockainey, 0-10 to 0-9.

Áine Ryan was the victorious skipper.
