Young filmmakers wanted for youth programme

Emerging Limerick Filmmakers (ELF) recently hosted a workshop by Mario Beck, exploring the world of visualisation in film. Supported by Screen Ireland through the VFX Academy, the event took place in Limerick’s Engine Building. Pete Moles, ELF’s Artistic Director, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting ELF’s commitment to supporting young filmmakers and Limerick’s growing professional community.

Mario Beck, who has worked on major films like The First Omen and Alien Romulus, shared his expertise. “Visualisation is a growing part of filmmaking, and I was grateful to share my experience in my hometown of Limerick,” said Beck. The workshop attracted over 50 attendees and covered topics like pre-visualisation, post-visualisation, and AI’s role in film.

Barbara Henkes, head of the VFX Academy, praised the event, saying, “Mario provided an invaluable experience for both young filmmakers and professionals, offering enjoyable insights into the VFX workflow.”

Emerging Limerick Filmmakers continues to support young talent and is currently seeking applications for its youth programme, with opportunities for filmmakers aged 13-16 and 16-18. For more information, visit emerginglimerickfilmmakers.com.
