AT Tipperary’s Super Sunday Meeting, Extensio (9/2) completed a hat-trick for Herbertstown trainer Pat O’Donnell in the Racing TV Handicap.
Under Brian Hayes, he led two out and went away to beat The Niffler by a length-and-three-quarters.
O’Donnell told irishracing.com: “He was the smallest horse in the race with the biggest weight and Brian gave him a lovely, patient ride.
“Darragh O’Keeffe schooled him for me on the Curragh last week but unfortunately with Rachael (Blackmore) out, he couldn’t ride him. I was delighted to get a more than able substitute.”
Elsewhere, in-form Calum Hogan, Rathkeale, piloted Say It So (11/2) to a lovely success in the Ross Castle Handicap Hurdle at Killarney.
The winner is the property of the enthusiastic ‘Mad for Hurling’ syndicate, whose membership includes Padraig Tobin, a former hurler of note with both Kilmallock and Limerick.
Also at the scenic Kerry venue, Ballingarry’s Philip Byrnes scored easily with David Christie’s Jack Holiday (6/1) in a Handicap Chase. He is owned by the jockey’s uncle Flor McCarthy.
Another local jockey, Diarmuid Moloney (Ardnacrusha), was in the winners’ enclosure of late with the Darren Collins-trained 18/1 chance Sayitfirst at Roscommon.
