Sysco officially launches new Limerick office after €2.6million investment

Taste of success: Minister Patrick O'Donovan launched the official reopening last week.

A MID West foodservice company has unveiled its newly refurbished Limerick office this past week.

Sysco Limerick was officially reopened by Limerick Minister Patrick O’Donovan and Newcastle West councillor Tom Ruddle, after two years of work to revamp the building.

At a cost of €2.6million, the upgrade has seen the Limerick facility, based in Newcastle West, transformed into a modern facility, specifically designed to meet growing industry demands across the region.

Renovation work included developing modern offices, a state-of-the-art development kitchen, extended warehouse space, as well as updated canteen and gym facilities which the company says are designed and built to meet its sustainability ambitions.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan said that the redevelopment work will continue to support employment in Limerick and the Mid West.

“It’s an honour to be here to officially open these new facilities. Sysco is an important and valued employer in this region, it sustains families and communities far beyond these walls in so many different ways,” the Minister said.

“The government recognises and supports the continued development and ambition of the Mid West, to be a destination for enterprise and entrepreneurship and to attract more high skilled, well paid jobs.”

Sysco currently employs over 400 people at its Limerick site across a range of sectors including in the contact centre, warehousing, IT, and procurement.

Sysco CEO Mark Lee said that “as Ireland’s only foodservice specialist of scale, we seek to continually innovate, driving the industry forward by going above and beyond to deliver an exceptional, high-quality service to our customers across the island”.

“Great care has been taken to ensure that this facility in the heart of the Mid West region, is not only in keeping with its natural surroundings but is well suited to meet the needs of employees, customers and suppliers alike while also supporting the company’s wider sustainability ambitions.”
