THE 2024 COOK Medical Mini Marathon filled Limerick with colour this past weekend as over 3,500 people took to the streets for various worthy causes.

Donations from this year’s event, according to organisers, are set to reach over €50,000 for participants’ chosen charities.

Cook Medical HR director and race ambassador Carla DiBenedetto said that the medical devices company’s dedication to community is at the heart of the event.

“We are delighted to see so many people taking part and enjoying the Cook Medical Mini Marathon. This event is so special to us as it not only brings people together for fun and fitness, but also raises essential funds for numerous charities,” Ms DiBenedetto said.

“Our commitment to building strong connections within our community is at the core of who we are, and we are truly honoured to be part of this inspiring event.”

Race director John Cleary said that “this year’s Mini Marathon has been a huge success, bringing together participants of all ages and abilities, which truly embodies the spirit of the race. I would like to thank everyone who took part and all those who supported this event.”

This year marked the ninth year that Cook Medical has been sponsoring the Mini Marathon, a partnership which it confirmed has been extended until 2027.

The event took off from the University of Limerick this past Sunday and saw over 3,500 people from across the country from all walks of life run, walk, and jog in the 5km and 10km courses.
