All-Ireland League Review

CORK Constitution inflicted a first defeat of the season upon Young Munster in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League.

In appalling weather conditions, the home side won 25-5 at Temple Hill.

A try from Eoin McCormack in the dying embers of the contest was the Limerick side’s only score.

Elsewhere, City of Armagh recorded their first win in the top flight with a 13-6 victory over Garryowen at Dooradoyle. Two second-half penalties by Kelvin Langan secured a losing bonus point for the Limerick side.

In 1B, Shannon suffered a 23-18 home defeat to Naas. Cian O’Halloran and Harry Long scored tries for Shannon, and John O’Sullivan kicked two penalties and a conversion.

In 2A, a late penalty by Ronan McKenna saw Old Crescent snatch a 13-12 win against Banbridge at Rosbrien. Brandon Nash scored Crescent’s try and McKenna converted and kicked two penalties.

UL Bohemian moved up to third place in Division 2B after late tries from Alan Kiely and Kian Ryan saw them defeat Rainey 17-15. Oisín Fagan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

In 2B, Bruff lost at home to Belfast Harlequins 7-5, despite John Bateman giving Bruff the lead early in the second half.

In the Women’s All Ireland League, the meeting of the top two sides saw Railway Union defeat defending champions UL.Bohemian 19-18. Eilis Cahill scored two tries for Bohs and Kate Flannery kicked two penalties and a conversion.
