TWO Limerick grocery retailers are encouraging their customers to nominate a local charity, community group or individual and explain how they have gone above and beyond for their community to be in with a chance of winning some money.

Eurospar outlets across Limerick, including Downe’s Eurospar, Rathkeale and Nagle’s Eurospar in Bruff, as well as Furey Smyth’s Eurospar in Newmarket-on-Fergus, are encouraging their customers to get involved in the ‘Let’s Celebrate Community’ campaign.

The campaign has become a central part of Eurospar’s commitment to acknowledge and thank those who go above and beyond to help those within their community who might otherwise go without the recognition they so thoroughly deserve.

Local heroes can be in with a chance of winning €1,000 as part of the campaign, which is aiming to celebrate most deserving people, clubs, groups, organisations and initiatives in recognition of the contribution they make to their local communities.

Eurospar director Peter Dwan said that the annual event aims to celebrate Limerick’s unsung heroes.

“I am delighted to launch such a worthwhile initiative for the communities our EUROSPAR Supermarkets serve”.

The campaign “is a meaningful way for us to recognise all these people do for their communities and to celebrate the community spirit EUROSPAR Supermarkets help to foster in their local communities,” Mr Dwan said.

The ‘Lets Celebrate Community’ event will run until October 16, with customers encouraged to pick up an application form in their selected store.
