Running for Milford to honour mother’s memory

Ciara O’Loughlin, Ronan Moore, Antoinette Moore, Daniel Moore, and Adam Moore will join Dylan for the charity run.

GRATITUDE for the incredible work in caring for his mother, Ann Moore, is what has inspired Dylan Moore and cousins to run this Sunday’s Cook Mini Marathon to raise money for the Milford Care Centre.

“It was my cousin who initially signed up for the mini marathon, and the reason that she had been motivated to do it was just trying to organise a small fundraiser. She thought it might be a nice way for us to come together and support a good cause,” Dylan told the Limerick Post.

“The preparation has actually been really good . . . Obviously, when you are not much of a runner, it’s hard to stay focused on on the negativity or the hard times going on around you when you’re just trying to keep running. It’s definitely been something that’s been good for my mental health as well.”

Dylan said that his family feels they “could never actually repay Milford, but if we can give them some sort of support in any way, it would be nice.”

It didn’t take long for Dylan and family to smash their original goal of €200, with €2,500 raised and still counting.

“I remember maybe two weeks ago I saw that the goal was €1,500 and thought nothing of it. And then someone had texted me and said, ‘you may need to log in and change that goal’. It really did just take off,” he said.

“For anyone who can [help with this cause], I want to say that any contribution is greatly appreciated. Everything goes directly to Milford Hospice, and if you can’t donate, just sharing the link on social media can be incredibly impactful.”
