AFTER next weekend’s quarter-finals, just four teams will remain in the Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship.
Already through to the semi-finals are holders Newcastle and last season’s intermediate champions Mungret St. Paul’s.
NCW will meet the winners of Adare and Galtee Gaels who clash at Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock on Sunday (1pm, referee Johnathon Hayes).
Harry Gleeson’s Adare are a fine side with quality through Oran Collins, captain Eoghan Costello, Davy Lyons, Paul Maher, Joe Sweeney, Hugh Bourke and Shane O’Connor.
Gaels will need to peak to win at the weekend, but have the potential with the likes of Eoin Gallahue, Maurice O’Sullivan, Tommie Childs, Bob Childs, Alan Condon and Zach McCarthy.
Mungret St. Paul’s await the victors of Fr. Casey’s and Na Piarsaigh, a tie that is listed for Seán Finn Park on Saturday (4pm, referee Johnny Murphy).
Fr. Casey’s are warm favourites, which is no surprise with an impressive team that includes Seán Kilbridge, Daniel Daly, Dylan Quirke, Martin Scannell, Adrian Enright, David Ward and Eliah O’Riordan.
For Na Piarsaigh to cause a surprise, Shane Walsh, Jack McCarthy, Ronan Houlihan, Ralph Leonard, Evan Egan, skipper Evan Sweeney and Dylan Cronin will all need to be supreme.
In the relegation final, Ballysteen are tipped to account for deadly rivals Ballylanders in Ballyagran on Sunday (4pm, referee Donnacha O’Callaghan).
Predicted semi-finals (October 19/20): Mungret St. Paul’s v Fr. Casey’s and Newcastle West v Adare.
In the Intermediate Championship quarter-finals, Galbally run-up against Gerald Griffins and Newcastle West bump into Claughaun, with Dromcollogher/Broadford and Rathkeale awaiting the respective winners in the semis.
Cappagh and Monagea have progressed to the last four in Premier Junior and Ballylanders and Fedamore likewise in Junior A.
Who will join this quartet will be decided in the coming days.
