A LIMERICK band made a stop into ‘London’s Best Pub’ to play an impromptu gig.

Kingfishr, made up of members Edmond Keogh, Eoin Fitzgibbon, and Eoghan McGrath, formed in Limerick when all three men were undertaking their degrees at the University of Limerick.

Last Sunday (September 21), while taking a break from recording new music in London, the Limerick lads popped into Skehan’s Freehouse in Peckham, south east London, owned by Foynes man Bryan Fitzsimons.

Skehan’s was named London’s Best Pub last year by Time Out magazine.

As reported by The Irish World, Kingfishr frontman Emond Keogh told the large crowd who turned out that the band had “no plan” for the pop-up gig.

“We just want to say, we had no aim or plan for coming here, we just knew we wanted to play a gig in a pub, whatever that meant,” Mr Keogh said.

“Thank you so much to everyone that made that happen, to yourselves, a massive round of applause,” the singer continued.

Among the crowd at the popular Irish bar were members of the Green Isle camogie team who had a disappointing result in their game earlier that day.

The Limerick group last year supported Irish hitmaker Dermot Kennedy on his visit to Thomond Park.
