BALLINGARRY trainer Gillian Scott supplied a shock 50/1 winner of the One Mile Handicap at the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival on Monday.
Under Darragh O’Sullivan, Relevant Range moved clear apporaching the final furlong and headed Relevant Range 100 yards out to score by a length-and-three-quarters.
For Gillian, it was her third festival win in four years.
The winner is owned by the Irrelevant Syndicate.
Gillian told irishracing.com: “Darragh was cool out, as he said the horse was flat out the whole way. He’s not the most genuine but he just got him travelling enthusiastically and his 10lb claim was worth so much.
“We have a connection with the O’Sullivans as we have known Danny (father of Darragh) for years and Mam (Edwina Finn) gave Darragh his first pony to go racing and he won two races on him. He is a really good jockey and I’d say he will go jumping eventually as he is tall.
“We had a winner at last year’s festival with Racing Royalty, but I’ll take this win anytime.”
