New bus shelters for Caherdavin

Fine Gael councillor Olivia O'Sullivan has welcomed the new bus shelters in Caherdavin.

A NEW bus shelter at Caherdavin Church has been welcomed by Fine Gael councillor Olivia O’Sullivan, who is now requesting further shelters in the area where suitable.

This comes following an agreement with the National Transport Authority (NTA) to move the Ashwood Avenue stop on the Old Cratloe Road further from the houses in the area to facilitate installation of a bus shelter.

The Council agreed with the re-location and the new stop is being considered in designs of the Old Cratloe Road Active Travel Scheme.

“A bus shelter I requested for the stop near the Baptist Church is also being considered and the Old Cratloe Road Active Travel Scheme will review including a shelter here in that design,” Cllr O’Sullivan confirmed.

She said that “future bus routes in the Bus Connects plans have been considered in the Old Cratloe Road Active Travel Scheme, and future potential bus stops identified on plans”.

“This includes consideration for a new stop in the future at the lower part of the road near Shannonvale/Clonile for the proposed Route 2A between Coonagh Shopping Centre and UL, which passes here utilising the new Coonagh to Knockalisheen Road when open.”
