A LIMERICK WOMAN is paying tribute to her late father by raising money for the unforgettable care provided by the Milford Hospice in his final days.
Ann Marie Bagnell, from Ballycahill, has raised over €30,000 for Milford Hospice over the past 14 years as part of the Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning campaign. Her father, Michael Bagnell, a Limerick farmer, passed away 20 years ago from skin cancer at the age of 72.
Ann Marie has never forgotten the care her father received from the Milford Hospice team, using Bewley’s Coffee Morning as an opportunity to give back.
“It’s so calm and peaceful in Milford, and they make things easy for families,” Ann Marie said. “The palliative care team were brilliant, the staff couldn’t do enough for him.”
Ann Marie’s coffee evening will be held at her home in Ballycahill on September 27, the day after the official Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning, which takes place on September 26 across Ireland.
Funds raised locally stay in the community, directly supporting organisations like Milford Hospice.
Ann Marie’s coffee evening will be supported by an army of friends, relatives, and neighbours. She is also selling raffle tickets with prizes donated by supporters, with the help of her colleagues at med-tech company Sanmina Ireland.
“It’s a community that makes it a success,” she said.
This year’s Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice, coordinated by Together for Hospice, offers people across Ireland the opportunity to support their local hospice. Anyone can host their own coffee morning by registering at hospicecoffeemorning.ie or calling 0818 995 996.
