Hayes and O’Neill shortlisted for National Awards

Cathal O'Neill has been nominated for Young Player of the Year.

KYLE Hayes and Cathal O’Neill have been shortlisted for Hurling Player and Young Player of the Year, respectively.

Hayes is in contention with Clare’s Shane O’Donnell and Darragh Fitzgibbon of Cork, while O’Neill has opposition in Cork’s Eoin Downey and Adam Hogan of Clare.

Hayes and O’Neill are also nominated for All-Stars, along with fellow county performers Nickie Quaid, Dan Morrissey, Barry Nash, Tom Morrissey, Gearóid Hegarty, Aaron Gillane and David Reidy.

All-Ireland winners Clare have 14 nominations, while runners-up Cork have ten.

The All-Stars Banquet is on at the RDS on Friday November 1.
