Transpositions – sharing the beauty and intelligence of all beings

A NEW exhibition titled ‘Transpositions’ from Elaine Tucker and Óscar Mascareñas takes place at Coach House in the People’s Museum of Limerick running from Thursday September 19 to Friday October 18.

Óscar and Elaine are a couple who have been practising photography together for a number of years and hosted their first joint exhibition in the Hunt Museum earlier this year.

This new collection features 14 large images in colour and monochrome that capture the wildlife and woodlands of Ballycuggaran in Co. Clare.

Mascareñas lectures and researches on composition and trans-disciplinary practice at the Irish World Academy. Commenting on this exhibition, he says, “each of us has a unique way of observing and capturing nature. Our purpose is simple, to create the conditions for insightful and absolute observation, and to embody and share the beauty and intelligence of all beings. For us, this artistic process is centred on the idea that we are all related, and must recognise – and recognise ourselves in – all beings around us, echoing the sentiments of French symbolist painter Eugène Carrière and Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh.”
