SOCIAL Democrats councillor Elisa O’Donovan was selected by her party to stand in the next general election in Limerick City.

After her selection this week, Cllr O’Donovan said she is excited to launch her campaign and predicted a bright future ahead for Limerick.

“I am so excited to be selected as the Social Democrats candidate in Limerick City and cannot wait to launch my general election campaign. I am hugely ambitious for Limerick and its future,” she said.

“I firmly believe that with the right leadership, Limerick will thrive and become one of the best places to live in Ireland.”

The City West representative claims that under the current government, Limerick City has struggled to reach its full potential and has been badly impacted by ongoing underinvestment in healthcare, disability services, and housing.

“My focus will be on health and wellbeing at every stage of life and making sure that no-one faces challenges alone. As a frontline healthcare worker, I believe I can offer a unique perspective on what needs to be done to fix our health service, from the ED crisis in Limerick to the shortage of GPs throughout the city and county.

“I also see first-hand every week the impact that housing has on health, so increasing the supply of affordable and social homes in Limerick will be one of my main priorities if elected as a TD.

“My vision for Limerick is clear – I want to build a city that is fair, creative, prosperous and healthy.”
