RATHKEALE finished commendable runners-up in Under-16 Tag Rugby at the National Community Games Finals in Carlow.

The Limerick and Munster champions overcame Cavan of Ulster in the semi-final before narrowly losing to Dublin in the final.

Tag Rugby is popular in Rathkeale with the club fielding two teams at both Under-11 and Under-14 age grade.

The silver medal-winning side is coached by Derek Johnson, Bernie Johnson, and Kieran O’Connell.

“Tag rugby is one of the best sports for kids, it has mixed genders, it’s fast, exciting with lots of different skills,” commented Derek.
