Limerick communities, artists, and creatives are preparing a diverse programme of free Culture Night events with the support of the Arts Office at Limerick City and County Council.

In Limerick City, there will be a drum and dance workshop at Wickham Way to make sure Culture Night returns to Shannonside with a bang.

St John’s Cathedral will see an organ recital take place, a ‘Hands on Harps’ event will come to the Milk Market, and Mother Mac’s pub will see a celebration of the heart of a traditional Irish pub.

As well as all these cultural offerings, Lava Javas Youth Cafe in Glentworth Street will host a special celebration of youth culture, while The Hunt Museum will host a night of glitz and glamour with Tóraíocht Taisce.

At the People’s Museum of Limerick, a unique virtual reality exhibition will be held with works from Limerick artist Gerry Davis, who will be showcasing a series of paintings as the result of experimentation with AI image generation, hosted by the Irish Museum of Virtual Art.

Mayor of Limerick John Moran encouraged as many people as possible to get involved in the various Culture Night experiences around the city and county this year.

“Culture Night Limerick is an opportunity to show appreciation for the immense talent that exists locally, bringing a vibrancy to our streets and towns,” Mayor Moran said.

“It is a demonstration of the energy of creativity and the pride we have in our artistic strengths and cultural identity. Join in the fun as we broaden our cultural horizons,” the first citizen added.

Limerick Arts Officer at Limerick City and County Council, Etain McCooey, said that Culture Night is an opportunity to experience the creativeness of the region.

“Culture Night is always great fun. It is a night to celebrate the cultural, artistic, and creative communities of our region by inviting existing and new audiences into our galleries, museums, workshops, libraries and studios,” she said.
