WHEN the company that he worked for went bust in 1985, Paddy Taylor was left without a job and customers who had paid deposits to have windows fitted in their homes were left at the loss of €10,000 in deposits – a life-changing amount of money at the time.

While he didn’t have a job, Paddy did have a huge empathy with people who had lost their money and he had his very specialist skills.

“I contacted all the customers who had lost their deposits and offered to finish their jobs for the balance,” he told the Limerick Post.

“I lost €10,000 on my first 10 jobs in my own new company but from then on, word spread from the people I stepped up for and I got contracts from their friends and families. That’s how Atlas Window and Door Repairs got started.”

The company has been going from strength to strength since, and now employs four people. But Paddy brings the same sense of integrity and care to all of his work, with customer testimonials describing him as “a pleasure to deal with”, paying “great attention to detail”, and “always comes when he says he will”.

They fit and repair PVC windows and doors all over Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and parts of Cork.

As well as handling all of the new energy grants for home energy upgrades, Paddy listens carefully to customers’ needs.

“It’s important that there be no misunderstanding about what people want, so we agree it all in advance and have it written down,” he said.
