Earls selected for Ireland Pitch and Putt team

Limerick's Kieran Earls accepts the Michael Donnelly Cup as winner of the All-Ireland Strokeplay Championship from Pitch and Putt Ireland President Mark Keohane.

KIERAN Earls has been selected on the Irish Team to compete at next month’s Pitch and Putt World Cup in Spain.

It is the first World Cup in the sport since 2016 and will be staged at the El Vendrell course, Tarragona, Catalonia from October 11 to 13.

The Ballynanty native, who now lives in Caherdavin, began his lifelong involvement with the sport at Parteen and when that facility closed he switched to Bruff.

Over the last few months, Earls has been in the form of his life, finishing runner-up at the World Stroke Play Championship (Spain).

On the home front, the 33-year-old has won an astonishing six Senior Scratch Cups, came second in the Irish Open and most recently captured the All-Ireland Senior Strokeplay Championship in Kingswood, Dublin.

Earls is joined on the team by Kerry’s Damien Fleming, Ian Dillon (Kildare) and Pádraic Sarsfield, Louth.

The manager is Michael Vaughan.
