Immersive percussive surround-sound experience at Lime Tree

Bangers and Crash Percussion, Ireland’s leading percussion ensemble, presents an unforgettable surround-sound concert experience at Lime Tree Theatre on Tuesday September 17 (7.30pm),

This innovative performance combines virtuoso artistry with audience participation, featuring a brand-new composition by Brian Irvine, a master of participatory music, who will lead 50 young musicians from across Limerick.

The Bangers and Crash Percussion Sextet, led by renowned percussionists Alex Petcu-Colan, Emma King, Caitríona Frost, Brian Dungan, John Rousseau-Parlane, and Paddy Nolan, showcases an impressive array of percussion instruments—such as marimbas, vibraphone, tubular bells, wind chimes, crotales, tambourines, and various drums, including bass, gongs, tom-toms, and congas. The ensemble also incorporates unconventional materials like scrap metal, marbles, and broken plates to create an exciting sonic landscape, pushing the limits of percussion and delivering a mesmerizing soundscape.

This concert promises an electrifying evening of dynamic percussion, exploring a wide range of styles from contemporary Western percussion to Afro-Cuban rhythms, Japanese taiko, Spanish flamenco, and Javanese gamelan.
