OLD CRESCENT – who have never won the title – are the first side through to the semi-finals of the Munster Senior Cup.
It came courtesy of a 24-14 away win at Midleton.
Tries by Sam Hanrahan and John Hurley, both converted by the latter, had the Limerick side 14-7 ahead at the interval.
Midleton levelled matters in the new half but Crescent finished the stronger and late tries from Dara O’Brien and Brian Molloy sealed the victory.
Elsewhere, holders Garryowen kept their outside hopes alive of progressing to the last four with a 27-10 away win over UCC.
The Light Blues had tries courtesy of Ronan Quinn, Alex Wood and Jack Costello, while Kelvin Langan was exemplary on kicking duty.
In the shock of the round, Bruff stunned UL Bohemian at Kilballyowen Park with a 24-14 victory. John Bateman, Craig Carew, John Sheehan, and Adam O’Dwyer scored tries for Bruff. Paul Collins kicked two conversions.
Bohs replied with tries from Ronan Deegan, and Lochlin Kelleher and Oisín Fagan converted both.
Cork’s Highfield were comfortable 42-5 winners against Shannon at Woodleigh Park.
