A MAN was due before Limerick District Court this Tuesday morning (September 10) charged in connection with the death of talented musician and singer Louise Muckell in Rathkeale, County Limerick, two years ago.
Ms Muckell, an accomplished pianist and vocalist, originally from Roches Road in Rathkeale, who was residing at Cois Deel, Rathkeale, died at University Hospital Limerick a day after she was allegedly assaulted at a house.
Ms Muckell, who was aged in her 50s at the time of her death, was discovered at a property in the Cois Deel estate at approximately 8:30pm on July 19, 2022.
The scene at Cois Deel was preserved by Gardaí and a technical examination was conducted by Garda forensics officers.
A post-mortem examination on the deceased’s remains was conducted by Dr Margaret Bolster, State Pathologist, on July 21, 2022, and the autopsy results were not released publicly.
Gardaí in Limerick attended an incident that occurred in the Windmill Street area of Limerick City earlier on the evening of July 19. Their enquiries suggested that the deceased may have frequented a residence on the street in the day or days prior to her discovery with serious injuries on July 19, 2022.
This Tuesday morning, Gardaí said they had arrested and charged a man in his 50s in connection with “the fatal assault of a woman at a residence in Rathkeale, County Limerick on Tuesday, 19th July 2022”.
“He is scheduled to appear before Limerick District Court at this morning’s sitting, Tuesday 10th September 2024,” a Garda spokesman said.
