A LIMERICK woman has successfully completed the ACORNS programme, an initiative designed to support female entrepreneurs living in rural Ireland.

Theresa Sheehy, of Theresa’s Country Supplies, successfully completed the programme, and has encouraged other women to get involved in the free business development programme.

Theresa’s Country Supplies provides high quality products for farmers involved in the care of animals, including essential dairy hygiene products, kids’ farm clothing, bedding for cattle, and wood pellets for heating in domestic, commercial, and industrial settings.

Ms Sheehy said that the ACORNS programme was a “remarkable journey” for her.

“ACORNS 9 was truly an amazing opportunity and I strongly encourage participation. Securing a spot in this esteemed programme couldn’t have happened at a more opportune moment,” the Limerick entrepreneur said.

“The past six months have truly been a remarkable journey, feeling grateful for the inspiring circle of entrepreneurs I’ve been part of. I am excited to witness the endeavours of these remarkable women unfold.”

Applications are now open for the 10th cycle of the ACORNS programme, with the deadline for entries set at midnight on September 20.

ACORNS is based on the belief that early-stage entrepreneurs learn best from their peers. Participants interact with each other in the monthly round table sessions, which are facilitated by a lead entrepreneur, who has first-hand experience of starting and successfully growing a business in rural Ireland.

ACORNS 10 will run from October 2024 to April 2025 and will include six monthly round table sessions, a workshop on understanding financials, a briefing by various development agencies.
