THREE men have been charged in connection with a seizure of suspected crack cocaine, cannabis, and cash in Limerick City today (Wednesday September 4).

The three men were arrested by Gardaí during a series of planned raids in the St Mary’s Park area of the Treaty City.

Gardaí have confirmed that “four residences were searched under warrant along with large areas of open land” as part of Operation Feabhsaigh.

“Quantities of suspected crack cocaine, cannabis, and cash were also seized. All drugs seized are now subject to examination by Forensic Science Ireland.”

Gardaí said today’s operation was “part of an ongoing operation aimed at targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs and related criminal activity in Limerick City”.

“This investigation is led by members attached to Henry Street Garda Station, supported by the Divisional Drugs Unit, the Garda Armed Support Unit, the Garda Air Support Unit, and the Garda Dog Unit.”

The three arrested men, aged in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, appeared before Limerick District Court today and the Garda investigation “remains ongoing”, Gardaí said.

Operation Feabhsaigh was established in September 2023 to target “severe drug related crime and anti-social behaviour in the St Mary’s Park / Historical Quarter in Limerick City”.

“As part of this operation, high visibility policing, targeted policing, and community engagement initiatives have been established to disrupt and detect criminal behaviour,” a Garda representative said.

“Operation Feabhsaigh also seeks to build positive relationships with the stakeholders and residents of the area.”
