Ballygunner to face Limerick winners in SHC

THE winners of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship will be home to Waterford’s Ballygunner in the opening round of the provincial competition in early November.

The Gunners won their championship for the 11th year on the trot with a comfortable defeat of Abbeyside-Ballinacourty at the weekend.

The side is now unbeaten in an incredible 58 matches.

Lead players for the Waterford team include goalkeeper Stephne O’Keeffe, Tadhg Foley, Philip Mahony, Conor Sheahan, Dessie Hutcinson and Pauric Mahony,

Ballygunner will now have a long wait for their next outing, while Limerick have yet to reach the knock-out stages.

The winners of Limerick/Clare will advance to meet the Tipperary representatives in the semi-final of the Munster Championship.
