Under the experienced leadership of its founder Simon Maher, the station’s management group, which includes Operations Manager Dan McDermott and Social Media Guru Ruth O’Connor, has navigated the ever-changing landscape of online radio for a decade. This core team, ably assisted by a group of more than 20 passionate volunteers, has steered 8Radio.com through a decade of growth, innovation, and musical exploration.

Speaking in advance of the FM broadcasts Simon spoke about the stations plans:

“Since 8Radio began in 2013, we have been pushing for the licensing of niche broadcasters to provide an outlet for new talent in terms of music and broadcasting as well as expanding the Radio industry in a competitive media marketplace. 8Radio.com is taking a proactive step by encouraging the new Media Commission (CnaM) to licence localised DAB radio multiplexes immediately, allowing niche Irish broadcasters and established broadcasters access to a low-cost broadcast platform. In Belfast this week there are upwards of 70 stations available on DAB radio, ranging from Local Niche Specialists to Major Brands and National Broadcasters. The listener and the industry wins when the market is opened up.”
