SARA Byrne has been unveiled as Dromoland Castle’s touring professional when she hits the pro ranks next month.

The rising star of the sport, who hails from Cork, will bid farewell to the amateur ranks after this week’s Curtis Cup – Great Britain and Ireland versus USA – at Sunningdale, near Ascot in the UK.

At the weekend, the 23-year-old qualified for the next stage of the LPGA Qualifying School.

She finished tied 35th in the Pre-Qualifying Tournament at Mission Hills and secured her place at the Qualifying Tournament in Florida in October.

If Byrne gets through that stage, she will have a chance to battle for her LPGA card at the five-round Q-Series final stage in December.
