CORBALLY man Ian McGarry will compete in the World Masters IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship – the biggest event of its kind – in Las Vegas this week.
In preparation for this, McGarry has prepared diligently over the last few months under coach Fergal Quinlan.
Locally, the Brazlian Jiu-Jitsu scene has a base on the Dock Road.
“Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most dynamic, strategic, and exciting combat sports around. It is just as much a game of mental chess as it is a game of physical and technical ability,” an excited McGarry told the Limerick Post in anticipation of the championship.
The championships will kick off at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday August 29 and run until August 31.
