A DROMKEEN man was found to be a golden wonder of the Treaty potato growers when he was ranked highly at the Bord Bia National Potato All-Ireland competition at the Tullamore Show.

Michael English placed third in the All-Ireland competition, which was established to raise awareness among growers of what constitutes a good quality potato.

Michael took home the third-place yellow ribbon for his Golden Wonder potatoes, which were highly lauded by judges (who adjudicate based on flouriness and high dry matter, which are popular with Irish consumers), as well as any of those lucky enough to have tasted them.
